Divisions

Power Transformers

APT designs and manufactures Eskomaccredited power transformers from 2MVA up to 315MVA with voltage ratings to 275kV, in accordance with IEC 60076 specifications. The product portfolio includes grid-connected substation transformers as well as specialised step-up inverter transformers for utilities, renewable plants, and other high-demand applications.

LH Marthinusen

LHM provides manufacturing, refurbishment, and servicing of transformers from 50kVA up to 300MVA, with voltage ratings to 275kV. Capabilities span new-build design, rewinds, repairs, and upgrades, ensuring reliable performance across generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial installations.

High Voltage Equipment

As South Africa’s only local manufacturer of high-voltage equipment up to 145kV, HVE also supplies and supports equipment up to 800kV through strategic partnerships. The division’s range covers circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, surge arrestors, post insulators, and reactive power compensation equipment, backed by full technical service capability.

Medium Voltage Switchgear

MVS is a leading manufacturer and supplier of medium voltage switchgear rated up to 36kV. The portfolio includes metal enclosed air-insulated, gas-insulated and solidinsulated (SF₆-free) primary switchgear, containerised substations, distribution and renewable mini-substations, indoor and outdoor secondary switchgear, ring main units rated up to 36kV, and bulk metering units, all designed to optimise reliability, safety and ease of operation.

Distribution Transformers

ADT is the largest local supplier of distribution transformers, ranging from 16kVA single-phase (class 0) through to 10MVA 88kV (class 1). Configurations include pole-mounted, platform, pad-mount, skid-mounted units and NECRTs, with specialised K-rated transformers up to K13 for nonlinear loads and renewable generation environments.

Protection & Control

P&C is a leading provider of protection, metering, and automation systems for transmission and distribution networks. Capabilities include substation protection schemes, relays, SCADA and automation platforms for power flow management, smart metering systems with hosted services, and advanced online condition monitoring technologies.

Static Power

SP designs and manufactures a full range of bespoke AC and DC standby power systems, together with industrial energy storage using NiCad, LiFePo4, NaCl and Lead Acid technologies. Solutions extend to solar integration, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and microgrids, supported by a Sub-Saharan Africa collection point for nickel cadmium recycling and disposal.

Electrical Products and Genlux Lighting

With 12 nationwide outlets, ACTOM Electrical Products distributes a comprehensive portfolio that includes cables and accessories, joints and terminations, cable support systems, overhead line materials, plugs and switches. The division also supplies general and specialised lighting, including Eskomapproved substation lighting systems, backed by technical support and product expertise.
